School of Medicine Virginia Commonwealth University VCU Medical Center

Teleconferencing and Facilities

In cooperation with VCU Media Support Services, SOM Technology Services offers teleconferencing assistance to School of Medicine faculty and staff in support of the school’s teaching and research missions. We provide planning, coordination and on–site tech support for many School of Medicine teleconference meetings and classes.

  • Videoconferences provide real–time, face–to–face communication between distant locations, such as the VCU School of Medicine MCV and Inova Campuses and the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Center. National and international videoconferences with multiple participating sites are possible using IP and ISDN connectivity and a state-of-the-art conferencing bridge administered by Media Support Services.
  • Audioconferences allow low-cost connectivity between multiple sites using traditional phone lines.
  • Web conferences provide computer screen sharing between two or more locations while using traditional telephone lines for voice communication.

For assistance in determining appropriate technologies, locations, support and budgeting, contact JK Stringer.
