Summer Student Program in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Public Health Epidemiology

New Research Opportunities for the sum‌mer of 2017

Join us at VCU for a new Summer Student Program in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Public Health Epidemiology [PDF]. The School of Medicine will offer an integrated series of seminars and workshops that range from local to global issues in infectious diseases. Studies are related to infectious diseases from basic science (pathogenic microbiology) to applied science (epidemiology). Accepted students will be paired with a mentor to conduct research in the areas of: microbiology, clinical research, or epidemiology.

Applications

The application period will close on Wednesday 15 March 2017.

  • (1) Select the application for VCU medical students

         -
    Please indicate you are participating in the MIDPH program.
         - A mentor will be assigned to you before the start of the program.
         - The submission of the MIDPH Summer Program Application certifies that you will not be working
            another job during the period of time that you will be involved in the summer research program.

  • (2) The MIDPH program will not be open to undergraduates in 2017.  Please check back for 2018.
    • Required documentation in addition to and in support of your submitted application:

      • (1) Upload of a personal statement describing your personal and professional goals, and explaining how this summer program will help you reach those goals. 

      • (2) unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended

      • (3) -2- letters of reference

    • Successful applicants will present at minimum, the following:
      1. Must be a current undergraduate student - Sophomore, Junior or Senior.
      2. Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.50 or greater.
      3. Must have research experience beyond the classroom.
