Foreword
Dear Faculty Member:
The goal of Faculty Development in the School of Medicine on the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University is to assist faculty:
- in becoming accomplished, productive, and successful in their chosen endeavors of teaching, research, patient care, or administration; and,
- in sustaining their vitality, both now and in the future.
Mentoring relationships have proven to be an excellent way to enhance
professional growth and the School of Medicine strongly supports mentoring
activities. With this in mind, the Office of Faculty and Instructional Development is offering this mentoring guide. We hope that it is useful to all faculty. When
you meet with your department chair throughout the year, we encourage you to
use this guide as a resource to assess your mentoring needs as they relate to your
professional development.
