Career Counseling
At the Inova campus, career counseling is given great attention across the third- and fourth- years. The program has been designed to cover all the key areas that a student would need addressed in choosing a career, as well as the key steps toward graduation and obtaining a successful residency match. The program includes:
- Career nights in the fall ofthe third-year to meet and speak with specialists in areas of interest
- CV and personal statement workshops in the winter and early spring of the third-year
- Assignement of an Inova campus advisor in the selected area or areas of interest
- Provision of an additional advisor who students may contact on the Richmond campus
- All students meet with our assistant dean to assess the progress and decisions of the student during the entire career planning process
- Sessions on registering for ERAS and the NRMP
- Sessions on how to ask for letters of recommendation
- Sessions on how to conduct one’s self on the interview trail
