School of Medicine Virginia Commonwealth University VCU Medical School

Ph.D. Programs

Admissions

Applications are submitted to the VCU Graduate School or for international applicants, the VCU Office of International Education. Application materials are provided at the links to these sites respectively.

On receipt by either the Graduate School or the Office of International Education, applications are forwarded directly to the department/program for review. Recommendations for acceptance and offers of financial support are generated by the program/department and communicated to the Graduate School. The Graduate School transmits a notification of acceptance to the applicant confirming the recommendation. Applications are reviewed as received and acceptance decisions are communicated as they are made.

Fast Track Review

Although a formal application [PDF] to the VCU Graduate School must be completed before admission to a Ph.D. program, applicants are encouraged to provide information directly to individual Departments or Programs. Applicants may e-mail the Program Director (listed below) and report their GPA and GRE, include a personal statement and list the names and e-mail addresses of three referees. The Fast Track Review Self-Reporting Form, submitted in parallel with a formal application, allows rapid feedback to the applicant.
