Deborah German, M.D., chair of the Association of American Medical College’s group on student affairs, was the keynote speaker for the ceremony. First-year students Derrick Williams, Caroline Tran, Michelle Ng and Kim Tran. Senior faculty cloak the students go forward to be cloaked in their first white coats —a symbol of professionalism and empathy in the practice of medicine.

Dean of Medicine Jerry Strauss, M.D., Ph.D., greeted the students as they came forward. Dean of Medicine Jerry Strauss, M.D., Ph.D., helps Scott Kim into his coat. Inova’s Associate Dean Craig Cheifetz, M.D., came to Richmond for the ceremony.
