Promotions Committee for Medical Students
Purpose
This committee makes recommendations for promotion to the Dean, School of Medicine, on all students.
Goals
The goal is to provide a fair and consistent structure for evaluation of each student’s performance and appropriateness for promotion into the next year.
Assignments
This committee meets annually at the end of each academic year to hear recommendations from the Pre-Promotions Committee. An additional fifth meeting is held in December of each year to discuss third or fourth year students who have not fulfilled their clinical requirements. The committee receives recommendations from the Pre-Promotions Committee and makes a recommendation to the Dean who has the final authority in all academic decisions.
Procedures for Appointment
The Dean, School of Medicine, appoints committee members from among the chairs of basic science and clinical departments.
Membership and Term
Membership is for an indefinite period of time.
