Awards and Recognition

Research Recognition

These awards recognize significant achievement by School of Medicine faculty in areas of research and scholarship. Categories of recognition include Sponsored Research and Research Scholarship.

Sponsored Research recognizes individuals who achieve extramural support for research activity. Recognition may include but is not limited to first-time extramural funding, longevity of continuous support, achievement of a competitive renewal, a unique source of funding or a specialized category of funding for program development.

Research Scholarship recognizes achievement evidenced by the impact of specific publication(s) on biomedical science, invitations to present research in a national or international assembly, or other evidence of extramural recognition of research accomplishment.

Nomination Process and Timeline: In general, nominations are sought by the Dean of the School of Medicine in early November, with nominations due in December (before Winter closing). Each department chair may submit one nomination for either award category. Due to its size, the Department of Internal Medicine is permitted to submit four nominations. Awards are presented at the final faculty meeting of the academic year in May or June.
