Awards & Recognition
Presidential Awards for Community Multicultural Enrichment
The PACME awards are bestowed to members of the university community in recognition of significant contributions which enhance the institution's commitment to diversity. The awards were created to recognize and encourage such contributions that may include but are not limited to promoting civility, building community, establishing effective cross-cultural initiatives, advocating equity, and nurturing openness and inclusion within the university community. Four separate awards recognize students, faculty, classified and hourly staff, and administrators. All instructional faculty are eligible for the Faculty Award. Administrators who hold professional faculty appointment are eligible for the Administrator Award.
The Riese-Melton Award, which is given for contributions to cross-cultural relations, is the capstone award. The recipient of this award will be chosen from the four PACME winners.
The President of VCU typically solicits nominations in early February, with nominations due in late February. Inquiries may be directed to Napoleon Peoples, PhD, Interim Associate Dean for Multicultural Student Affairs.
