VCU Continuing Medical Education
University Health Services Professional Education Programs
University Health Services Professional Education Programs (UHS-PEP) coordinates and oversees the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
Continuing Medical Education
The VCU CME program manages activities for physicians and other health care professionals throughout Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic region, and the United States. The program includes annual conferences, regularly scheduled community-based presentations, clinically-oriented experiences held at VCU Health System’s Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, satellite television broadcasts, remote site teleconferences (RSTs), independent learning opportunities and enduring materials. The VCU CME program is one of the larger university continuing medical education programs in the United States.
Annually, over 17,000 physicians and health care professionals participate in VCU-sponsored and jointly-sponsored continuing education activities. Each activity is designed to meet identified educational needs in clinical practice and health care delivery, in an era of rapidly expanding knowledge, new technologies and progressive demands on health care professionals. Attention is also carefully directed to the personal needs and well being of our participants.
