Mission:
The mission of the CPDE Evaluation Studies Program is to improve the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education programs of Virginia Commonwealth University and to contribute to the body of knowledge regarding the professional development of physicians, their learning, and behavior (Full Mission and Goals Statement).
Goals:
Offer evaluation services to enhance the teaching and learning of VCU, School of Medicine faculty who provide undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education. Conduct research and utilize results to continuously improve educational effectives by exploring the professional development of physicians, their learning, clinical behavior, and patient outcomes.
Planning for Evaluation and Research in Medical Education:
The Office of Continuing Professional Development and Evaluation Studies (CPDE) at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is committed to planning, implementing, and evaluating medical education, physicians’ life-long learning, improved quality of care, and patient outcomes. To that end, CPDE provides assistance on research and evaluation projects to VCU medical school faculty, residents, and medical students.
We provide consultation and implementation services in the areas of:
- Education research design Program evaluation design Data collection and data management Statistical analysis and interpretation in the context of education research Abstract and manuscript preparation
