The School of Medicine Annual Fund

AF logo

The foremost goal of the fund is to encourage the greatest number of alumni and friends to participate, at any gift level.

The Annual Fund is the vehicle for unrestricted giving to immediate needs in the School of Medicine. Gifts to this fund support key initiatives and are apportioned at the discretion of the Dean of the medical
school. Gifts of all sizes combine, allowing the fund to support medical student interest groups, Aesculapian scholarships and alumni outreach, along with milestone events in the
medical school like the White Coat Ceremony, Graduation and Teaching Awards.

A gift well spent:  Annual Fund Allocation for FY'09

Frequently Asked Questions about the Annual Fund

  • Why should I give to the Annual Fund? I would rather not make an unrestricted gift. I like giving to a specific scholarship or project.
For yearly gifts below $10,000, your gift will have the greatest impact if it is designated for the Annual Fund because the full amount of the gift can be expended immediately for the benefit of the school and its students.
  • But I want to know where my money is going.
Each year, the Dean apportions the Annual Fund in support of key needs in the school. 78% of the class of 2007 graduated with more than $100,000 in debt, making scholarships the most critical need at the medical school. This year, for the first time ever, 100% of the Annual Fund will be used in support of student scholarships. The number of Aesculapian Scholarship awarded will depend directly on the number and size of gifts to the School of Medicine Annual Fund.

"When I learned last June that I was to receive an Aesculapian Scholarship, I felt greatly appreciative and also very blessed. This is a great honor for me and a huge help toward funding my education.”
