Welcome Class of 2021

Congratulations! Your hard work and perseverance have paid off. The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine selects applicants from all corners of the world with two common characteristics: smart and nice. These two words will continue to challenge you to be conscious of who you are, where you come from, and what kind of doctor you will become. We are honored to have you join the VCU family and cannot wait to walk alongside you as you begin your medical education.

The road ahead will be long and arduous. However, we assure you that you will form lifelong relationships with extraordinary individuals who will become your future peers. These include upper classmen who will answer your pre-test panic text messages at midnight, provide insight into the best study spaces on campus, and will always know the best coffee spot in town. Our caring faculty and staff will always have their doors open to listen, support, and guide you throughout your journey. They have worked tirelessly to provide an environment that fosters learning, promotes emotional well-being, and deepens your desire to become healers.

So let us congratulate you again and welcome you to this extraordinary journey of being a physician. We are excited to have you at VCU and look forward to meeting you all this summer.

All the best,

Class of 2020
