Collaborations

The 51.5-acre MCV Campus is home to MCV Hospitals, one of the largest academic health centers in the country. With more than 700 inpatient beds and numerous outpatient clinics, MCV Hospitals is part of the VCU Health system and is the School of Medicine's primary teaching facility.

The VCU Health System was created by the integration of MCV Hospitals and MCV Physicians. In 2000, it was granted authority status, a quasi-independent entity similar to a county government. It serves as the largest provider of indigent care in the state. Each year, more than 30,000 inpatients are admitted to MCV Hospitals, and the on-campus outpatient facilities and off-site satellite clinics see more than a half-million visits annually.
